Birth Story Info

I typically arrive to the hospital/birthing center when you’re around 8-9cm dilated (I live about 5 minutes from McKay-Dee & Ogden Regional) and get footage of you laboring, the delivery, and the post-delivery events that follow directly (weight check, first time holding, family/sibling meet (if it’s within the 30-45 minutes post-delivery). I am able to come back for a "fresh 48", sibling meet, or newborns, if desired (see add-on pricing).

I ask that you keep me informed as your due date gets closer, especially with details such as dilation, effacement, station, checkups, contractions, and then heading to the hospital. Usually, I’ll obtain your partner's number as well (since most times he’s the one keeping everyone informed). I try to keep the days around your due date open and the week surrounding it flexible, but it’s unfortunately not 100% guaranteed. I typically have a backup photographer/videographer I can fall back on, if necessary (they get the footage and I still edit).

The un-planned: If a C-section arises, I am not allowed to go into the surgical room for the actual delivery, but there’s a lot to document with the prepping and directly after (since the C-section only lasts about 30-45 minutes and then they usually wheel you back to your room immediately) with holding the baby for the first time! For video- your partner could take some video clips and send them to me afterwards to put in the film as well.

The nighttime babies: Usually, I'm aware before going to bed if you are having signs of labor and therefore seem to sleep a little more light. I keep my phone next to me and welcome your update texts throughout the night. If I have not responded and you become an 8cm or things start to change, I ask that you call me until I answer.

Birth is such a sacred experience (I feel SO honored every time I get to document it), so I strive to preserve the natural flow of this experience—documenting the moments as they unfold rather than directing them.
